On the morning of August 16th, the heavy lifting of the continuous reforming unit debottlenecking project of Qilu Petrochemical Shengli Refinery, which was undertaken by our company, kicked off. After an hour of hard work by the participating staff, the E201 vertical heat exchanger was successfully removed and landed smoothly. On the morning of August 17th, the participating staff made persistent efforts to lift the newly arrived winding tube heat exchanger into place. Thus, the original structure of the heating furnace feed heat exchanger E201 was transformed from a plate heat exchanger to a new winding tube heat exchanger, achieving a successful first victory.
The old heat exchanger E201 stands at 16 meters tall and weighs 128.8 tons, positioned beneath the 33-meter-high frame structure 10. Due to the narrow road on the south side of frame 10, large cranes are unable to assemble and lift the equipment. Therefore, after careful calculation, the project department opted for a 750-ton crawler crane with super-lift capabilities to complete the lifting task and formulated a detailed lifting plan. The lifting station was set up on the open space north of the cylindrical boiler, over 40 meters away from the frame, with a chimney separating them, which added to the difficulty of the lifting operation. To ensure the smooth progress of the lifting work, the project department took proactive measures and made extensive preparations. Over ten days were spent on treating the crane's foundation, including site leveling, compacting with rubble, and finally leveling with crushed stone before laying steel plates. Meanwhile, the platform on top of the frame was also treated, clearing the way for demolition. A trial lifting was conducted the day before, and all preparations were ready. At 9:17 a.m. on August 16th, the demolition work officially began. In addition to the main crane, a 300-ton truck crane was arranged to assist in tailing, and a 130-ton crane was arranged to assist in dismantling the counterweight. Due to sufficient preparation, the main crane adjusted its position, operating radius, main engine angle, lifting height, etc. according to the plan requirements. With the close cooperation of the construction personnel, the demolition task was successfully completed in just one hour. At 10:17 am on August 17th, after completing all the preparatory work for the newly arrived wound tube heat exchanger, the lifting operation began. The new heat exchanger is 17.2 meters high and weighs 133 tons. The entire lifting process is the reverse of the removal procedure, just like pressing the rewind button. The heat exchanger was successfully placed in position at 11:30 am, successfully completing the lifting task and fully demonstrating our company's superb lifting skills. In the inspection and renovation of multiple units at Shengli Refinery, the 750-ton crawler crane selected by the project department is the largest crane, while the 133-ton heat exchanger is also the heaviest single piece of equipment. ![]() ![]() The first major lifting operation for the debottlenecking and revamping project of the continuous reforming unit at Qilu Petrochemical's Shengli Refinery has been successfully completed |
