4.4 million tons/year residual oil hydrogenation unit for Rapid project in Malaysia

The P2 package of the Rapid project in Malaysia has a 4.4 million ton/year residual oil hydrogenation (ARDS-1211) unit, which is constructed by Petronas. It is under the general contracting of Sinopec Engineering Construction Co., Ltd. (SEG-SEI) and the general contracting of Sinopec Fourth Construction Co., Ltd. (SEG-FCC), with our company responsible for the construction.
The project is located in the Biangalan area of Johor, Malaysia. The construction scope includes the installation of ARD-S1211 unit steel structure, equipment, pipelines, electrical, instrumentation, and pre commissioning to mechanical work. The main engineering quantities include: 4151t steel structure, 308t equipment labor protection, 138t furnace labor protection, 101 static equipment (26 large items), 42 dynamic equipment, 20 internal component installations, 17500 inch pipeline prefabrication, 145000 inch pipeline installation (7800 inch wire interface), 19884 pipeline supports, 9692 valve installations, and 36000 meters of heating wire; Electrical grounding of 33973 meters, equipment installation of 320 units/piece, junction boxes of 2321 units/piece, lighting cables of 64700 meters, cable trays of 11940 meters, installation of 1740 sets of lamps, wiring of 930 units, single testing of 81 units, and laying of 130000 meters of power cables; Instrument cable laying of 366900 meters, 1975 units/piece of equipment, 2012 main cable connections, 9742 branch cable connections, 3920 circuit tests, 48985 meters of slot box installation, 478 junction boxes/piece, 2105 instrument calibration units.
The project started on September 1, 2016 and was completed on November 2, 2018. Accumulated 3.15 million safe labor hours, with a one-time welding qualification rate of 98.5%. A total of 458 construction personnel have been relocated from China, and the peak period for foreign employees reached 210.
