The Jazan 20 million ton/year refinery in Saudi Arabia is owned by Saudi Aramco. The project is located in the southwestern part of Saudi Arabia's Jizan Economic City, adjacent to the Red Sea. It is approximately 80 kilometers north of Jizan City and 700 kilometers from Jeddah. The project's FEED and PMC are both managed by KBR in the United States.
In November 2014, South Korean SKEC Engineering Company won the bid for Saudi Arabia's Jazan Refinery&Terminal Project PKG9 for $1.1 billion. This bid includes the main unit atmospheric and vacuum distillation (J05), pipe gallery area (J70), and flare (J77). The Fourth Construction Company will undertake the construction task of the J05 mechanical package for the SKEC atmospheric and vacuum distillation unit in South Korea.
The atmospheric and vacuum distillation unit is divided into 7 areas, namely the main pipeline area, atmospheric pressure area, naphtha 1 area, desalination 1 area, vacuum reduction area, naphtha 2 area, and desalination 2 area. Our company mainly undertakes the installation work of steel structures, equipment, and pipelines for the main pipeline area, depressurization area, naphtha 2 area, and desalination 2 area.
Atmospheric and vacuum distillation unit is a general term for two units: atmospheric distillation and vacuum distillation. Because the two units are usually together, they are called atmospheric and vacuum distillation units. It mainly includes three processes: desalination and dehydration of crude oil; Atmospheric distillation; Vacuum distillation.
Atmospheric distillation and vacuum distillation are both physical processes. After desalination and dehydration, the mixed raw oil is heated in a distillation tower and divided into oil products with different boiling points from the top to the bottom of the tower according to their boiling points, which are called fractions. Some of these fractions are blended and added with additives before leaving the factory as products, and the vast majority are used as raw materials for secondary processing units. Therefore, atmospheric and vacuum distillation is also known as the primary processing of crude oil.
